Depends. Moms get most of the custody, most of the time.
Maybe not if you quote Child Neglect and Child Physical Abuse as including 'forcing unnecessary medical intervention', which is a real thing.
Well, I understand the guy's concern. Mom can just take him in one day and it's done. Dad would have to get a court to provide an injunction... which would take months even if the judge agreed. Easier to convince the kid, but it's a tough sell to make him go against his mom. Convincing the mom is the surest route, but given the whole ex status ... it's a tough situation. Perhaps OPs jurisdiction helps, but guys have the disadvantage most places I know of.
Which is why you need to use the kind of legislative language and legalese above. Sadly that's what stands up in court.
