Not only that, but in my experience the vast enormous majority of employers never even inquire as to military service, so it's not an issue.
I was hoping my Honorable Discharge would become an asset in that regard, but anyway... :) One thing it does is get me 10% off at stores that give veteran discounts, like Lowe's
I’ve had several Clearances during my post-military career and discharge status is surface-level data really. My FAA & FCC licenses carried more weight from my experience as far as hiring qualifications go. What disturbs me is these young people ARE IN EFFECT BEING THREATENED. They have no backup really.
