I agree that we should not force Statehood on Hawaii or anyone else. From past prospective, statehood has it downside in that subject providence has to prostitute itself to its host demands, but there is an upside too. U.S. has protected Hawaii from possibly a worst fate than maybe. Just giving you a counter argument.
And Hawaii, like a tick suck on a giant dog, has bloated itself beyond its natural means. When the U.S. tit dries up, they will have to go back to building dugouts. Not saying that ultimately would not be good, just saying.

Incidentally, Hawaii, and Alaska became states when I was 4 years old. When my grandpa was born, there were only 38 states.
