I believe you can ask your doctor to prescribe something off label. We know Ivermectin is safe for human consumption. Doing so under medical supervision makes it 10x safer. So, i really don't know where the controversy is.
For example, early into COVID they noticed that people taking Pepcid were clearing the virus more quickly. So Doctor's prescribed Pepcid to their patients. Is Pepcid intended for COVID treatment? No. But we know its safe for human use, and it is worth a shot.

I don't know which active ingredient - I suppose famotidine. But, I will say this: I paid very close attention to what Trump's doctors prescribed him when he tested positive. Pepcid, Melatonin, and D3 were included in his treatment.
Perhaps they fell into "they can't hurt and could help" territory. But Pepcid was long rumored to be an aid since the beginning of the pandemic.
Anecdotally: when I tested positive for COVID, I took all three of those pills daily (D3 had started months earlier). I never had a fever, cough, or any body aches. My main symptom was loss of taste and smell. I have heard horror stories about people never recovering those senses. Mine came back fully in ~10 days.
