I sat my kid down when she said "I hate Donald Trump". (8 year old, her mom my ex is a total liberal). Instead of telling her what to think I showed her bidens gaff ridden speeches, a highlight reel of him sniffing little kids. Then I showed her the highlights of Trump speeches and she changed her mind. Kids are smart and have great bullshit detectors.
I told her the most important thing I can teach her is to never let someone influence how you think. Never trust the media and to even question if what you learn in school is the truth. Most things in life are a lie. Seek out knowledge everywhere you can and try to figure things out for yourself. That was almost a year ago and before I give my opinion on things I ask her what she thinks now. She thinks Covid makes no sense. She thinks politicians are evil. I dont think she understands the gravity of what the world is going through but I am really happy that she has started to break away from the heard. She loves Trump and now her mom hates me even more 😂
I feel like I was brainwashed my whole life. My own intellect and to a degree I suppose arrogance was blinding me. 9/11 really red pilled me abd I think the most important thing I can teach my kid or anyone is to never believe media. Social or mainstream. I really think this next generation can be the first to not grow up under the brainwashing so many previous ones have endured. I sure hope so at least.
"Even question what you hear from me, and challenge ME. If you disagree, please provide me with your research and lets talk about it. If you have valid sources and a logical argument, you may change MY mind."
Both out daughters know that they can challenge me any time they want. But they better be able to back it up.
I didn't state that but that was definitely said.. she uses it against me jokingly sometimes but I absolutely told her to question me. I felt it hypocritical to say question everything except me, especially since I grew up brainwashed by MSM I expect my kid to be able to teach me some things when she is a little older and interested in world affairs. Great point though
Absolutely. Hopefully she can avoid the traps I fell into by trusting the media. I thought FOX was actually news. Felt real stupid a few months after 9/11 lol

So what exactly has she heard?
Another thing to add when you talk to your kids,
"Even question what you hear from me, and challenge ME. If you disagree, please provide me with your research and lets talk about it. If you have valid sources and a logical argument, you may change MY mind."

Yes! We try to teach our kids to think critically.
