450 miles built. 2000 mile long border with Mexico. 1000 miles of it is naturally hard to cross. We need 1k miles minimum. Texas is the biggest stretch of border, but only 51 miles were built. This will help a lot. The big blocker was legal issues with eminent domain and purchasing the border land. It's absurd the feds don't already own the border territory...
Well this bill doesn't allocate anything for the purchase of or the construction of a barrier on eminent domain. Do you have any specifics on how much of the Texas border is private land or eminent domain?
I wonder if they can buy easements with the money? The private landowner still owns the land but sells a right to the Federal Government to build and maintain a border wall across it.

Edit: Looks like 90% of the Texas border is private land. So I can't imagine this bill doing much to build any kind of barrier...
When you buy a house you have to give up the space and fund and maintain the side walk. A border should never be private.

Yeah the bill is shit. Surprise! But I don't know how eminent domain works. Maybe only the feds can take someone's land like that.
