The internet is a lot more than your connection with your computer. The Power grid is connected to the internet. Shipping across the country is connected to the internet. If the net were to go down the last thing we would be worried about is not being able to connect and play games.
Most power grid systems operate on intranet systems, which can only be attacked from the inside or by EMP's. But yeah, don't count on FedEx or Amazon. And invest on old single player RPG games If the power is ok in your area. Love me some Baldur's Gate 2 and Age of Empires.
Let me guess, only way to save the internet is to import 10 or 20 million Indian tech weenies to take our jobs, right?
Forgot to donate to BLM, because solar storms and climate change are caused by white supremacy
This may be off topic a little, but I think cloths, and hats that have a Faraday like shielding against EMF are going to be a hot item soon. Develop affordable clothing line with embedded EMF protection, and high end product with EMF and layered graphene light armor.
A solar EMP high up in the X class would kill all electronics connected to the power grid, telephone system, or any other long wires. It won't touch any devices that are disconnected at the time. On the other hand, an atomic EMP would kill even disconnected devices, unless housed in a Faraday cage.
I have over 30 years of backed up safe computer archives, with a ton of it printed out in binders.
If an X class solar EMP hits our side of the world, the internet is one of the last things I would worry about. Food and water, and the means to defend same.
Water, beer (lasts longer because of alcohol), peanuts, fruits (dried and in compote), powdered eggs and whey protein, beef jerky, canned goods, a lot of books, some games and based old movies(If the power grid isn't destroyed in my area), walkie talkie, guns, ammo, a couple machetes and a bowie knife, solar boiler and power bank.
Did I miss something ?
