My opinion: President Trump did not have to come out and dispute this, he could have easily let it play out. Maybe an outraged congress comes together in a bipartisan treason investigation. The results would probably come out just as President Trump just told us, just a fake story.
I feel like that would have resulted in a diluted reaction when the real treason trials come out. I think it would have caused a few people to not take those trials seriously because after all, Milley's had turned out to be nothing.
It was weird to me that the media reported and there was people who normally hate President Trump, coming out and condemning his actions.
Added thoughts: I just read some comments who read this as saying President Trump is disputing the idea that he was ever going to attack China, not that he is disputing the fact that Milley had this conversation with his Chinese counterpart.
I reread it a 4th, 5th, and 6th time and I can see it saying both. What are your thoughts?
The first, of course. It's the justification that's the lie and the reason Trump won't give an interview to the two writers. His defense is his record and the absurdity of Trump attacking China.
