I don't know how much I'm missing, but based on the wikipedia info, this seems like a group of sick MFers who pretty much volunteered to be part of the "cult". Any sex trafficking seems like it was just people who wanted to be part of it. Can someone set me straight?
True, but you can’t just voluntarily have crimes committed against you. If I volunteer for you to kill me and eat my corpse, you are still going to federal pmita prison.
Some signed up for "edgy" personal growth training, were told to provide collateral materials (naked photos, personal secrets) that would be used to help them achieve their goals and instead were used to control them into doing whatever the cult told them to do. This seems to have involved having sex with Raniere and possibly others. At the same time, they were subjected to brainwashing techniques that convinced them they were pushing past their limitations so they could become better people, when they were really just being brainwashed to do whatever degrading things the cult wanted them to do.
Some were completely innocent victims, as there were some known child victims. And some members are still out there are defending this group, saying they got what they signed up for.
