A brainteaser is something (such as a puzzle) that demands mental effort and acuity for its solution.
I enjoy brainteasers.

Always going to need oil to keep the war machines always running ;)
Hitler's inability to maintain supply lines and keep constant access to oil was arguably the #1 cause of Nazi Germany's defeat.., forced out of North Africa and the Middle East, stopped en route to the Caucasus... Kursk, Battle of the Bulge... no oil, no machines, no chance.
Revenge for WWI was definitely the ultimate motivation for the militarization and aggressive actions by the Nazis. I don't think Hitler seriously expected the UK to keep up the fight. He thought they would agree that the greater enemy was the communists (and in his mind, a global Jewish conspiracy). The takeover of Eastern Europe and Russia was really his main goal. I don't think he really planned on the British continuing to be a thorn in his side after opening up the Eastern front. I also don't think he really expected the US to enter the war either. The more I've thought about it, I'm certain Adolf was no mastermind, just a puppet. Problem for the Nazis was that the more the cult of personality developed around him, the more power he gained. He took advantage of it and ironically, foiled the plans of those who wanted to control him. When he took full control of the military, defeat became inevitable. He had no skills for running a war.
I definitely think so. Himmler and Goebbels were experts at pulling his strings. The SS/Nazi leadership convinced Hitler that the Wehrmact was subversive, and as a result he ended up not trusting them, taking over control from them, even eliminating them. Had the German military REALLY run the war, I'm certain that Europe would still be the Greater German Reich.
