CrowdStrike inherently had such data.
Remember that CrowdStrike took possession of the DNC server. They then presented a report of the data and violated all normal chain of custody legal protocols.
By providing security services CrowdStrike would have custody of every aspect of packet transit from DNS to GET / POST requests to webservers on to Encrypted SSH connectivity or PGP exchanges.
If we are talking tech companies - CrowdStrike is actually the most authoritative here when it comes to possession.
How would DNC server have traffic for people not related to Democrats, like family members of Trump?
I apologize - I am missing the context. Did the indictment state that there was trump family info on DNC servers?
Are we talking about this?
https://www.newyorker.com/magazine/2018/10/15/was-there-a-connection-between-a-russian-bank-and-the-trump-campaign
The claim here was that they had proof trump campaign official were laundering money to and from russian assets.
Maybe I can confusing details?
Either way it’s actually complete and total bullshit as the only way they could possibly intercept DNS requests would be real-time port 53 logging network wide ( as in the whole internet ) or to somehow have some other means ( as in maybe having access to the 13 root DNS systems? )
I run caching nameservers. What this means is if your local PC resolved DNS through my server - my server would obtain any request form DNS on its own and mask your PC. I do this to prevent tracking. There is no way for them to track DNS at that level.
They could however fake records and computer illiterate wouldn’t know that.
Okay let me take a step back. The issue is not whether the allegations of Trump-Russia connections were true. Obviously they were bogus and we have known that for years now.
The question of interest for me is the identity of Tech Executive-1, and Internet Company-1.
As per the indictment, Internet Company-1 & Internet Company-2 dealt with public and private information belonging to many Trump family members, due to them being large internet companies, with Company-1 being a DNS service provider, and Company-2 being a company with access to DNS traffic, amongst other things.
My assertion was that this description does not fit CrowdStrike.
When you mentioned CrowdStrike inherently had that data, I was trying to get more clarification of how CrowdStrike had access to that data. Imo, DNC servers do not have any connection to this part of the indictment at least.
