I think you are out of line, friend. I specifically came to this site to avoid censoring and bans. If someone is dooming, take the time to show them what you think is wrong about their point of view. Use evidence, debate them properly, bring them into the light. If we just start banning people who have different views (unless they're obviously shills or saying violent things), we're no better than the platforms we left to come here.
And look. I'm not a doomer myself, but there is plenty to be discouraged about and it shouldn't be a thoughtcrime to talk about it.
I hate the dooming, glooming too and scroll past most days. But once in a while I recognize someone just needing some hope and encouragement at a particular point of time. If the forum starts censoring content "someone" decides what we all get to say and hear. It is a slippery slope.
So you want this to be like twitter? Wrongthink gets you banned?
You shpuld only ban ppl saying shit that can get the site taken down.
If dormers hurt your feelings, you should sharpen your resolve and not just hit the eject button on anyone you dont like. Thats what they do
This type of thinking is actually the root cause of leftism and seems to be a pandemic among the younger generations (I'm guessing you are under 40). This is poison. People aren't the borg, they are individuals and will have a wide variety of opinions and beliefs when it comes to all the different speculations and discussions on this platform, even if they agree on almost everything else. The issue is that there are naturally different perspectives and we should try to convince others through discussion and facts rather than censorship. You risk creating a damaging bubble of your own with this attitude.
Kinda depends.on the level of doom. Some is kinda light hearted and some are just playing devils advocate. Some.on the other hand are purly destructive.
Im on the fence on bans. If someone is dooming. Better that they get removed or better that the sound, logical minds set it straight?
There is a detriment to either, so mods just need to call it as they see it.
If someone knows the rules, there shouldnt be anyone crying foul. But could we keep some people from turning by letting the conversation play out? Giving a chance for people to be set straight and bring them out of their dooming/shilling?
Yes you are out of line. We are not a censoring movement. Maybe adjust your way of thinking and encourage those that are feeling defeated.
The fact that we have people supporting bans for people feeling defeated and needing a lift is mind numbing.
