Here's a blurb about Perry, GA

The city of Perry was founded in 1823 as Wattsville. The city's name was changed to Perry in honor of Commodore Oliver Hazard Perry, who was a hero in the War of 1812. Perry was incorporated as a town in December of 1824. The city is best known as the venue where the Georgia Annual Fair is held.
