The Popes have killed people using the civil part of their power, which plays into the Beast being "diverse," which is to say it's a mix of political, military, and religious law, by burning people at the stake for opposing the "church."

Read Revelation 17 carefully and then do an image search of gatherings of bishops and cardinals and look at what they're wearing. BTW, Ex-Catholic here so I've been on both sides of the isle. Left this religion when I began to research all the pagan worship that's in the Catholicism.
