This is going to be off the hook! I think the smaller venue is to increase the effect of the crowd, they always look so spread out, but in reality there is a huge area to stand in. Even being at one, and seeing how many people are still trying to get in hours later, the areas are so large it looks like sparse crowds. Take NCAA football stadiums for instance, when the big house or the shoe is at capacity, they are truly amazing spectacles.
So basically there are three areas in these outdoor venues. The first one is where everyone lines up or more like blobs up and funnels in. Huge amounts of people, and some never get in as it takes a while and people never stop showing up. The next area is where the late arrivers or non vip etc stand, which is right past the secret service check point. This second area is usually massive. Like multiple acres massive, and despite the fact there are thousands of people in here and even in the third area, you have plenty of room to move about. Now most people stand up closest to the stand and the grand stands, but if you go far enough back the crowds look really sparse. Mind you they are not, it is an illusion due to the size of the venue. This venue they put the secret service checkpoints closer to the stage and grandstands, area 1, if you will. I believe this will give a better aerial view, of how many people really are there. This will be the larger than the other rallies this past summer as spirits are high, and he made sure to schedule after ncaa football games. Smaller second area with more people = great footage, results in morale boosting. Sorry for length, but hopefully you understand what I was saying now.
So did you watch? It worked! That place was literally jam packed at the start of the speech! People leave early because trying to get out of the parking is a nightmare!! But the smaller "second area" really did wonders for the pan over rsbn does! The crowd was electric and makes me so damn proud to be an american!!

Sparse crowds - spread out? Are you on crack? He always has massive crowds, the stadiums are full to the brim and there are thousands outside.
Have you been to rallies?
I have not been to multiple rallies. I have seen them on film though.
