I've seen shock waves that big from a 2000-pound TNT equivalent bomb - impressive but not really that big when you consider the amount of energy that a volcano is capable of producing.
Don't think so. Never underestimate nature's strenght. If there's someplace that could be bombed to force the tsunami, it would be a massive fault line that runs across half of the island and, should it give way, would throw 30 billion tons of rock into the sea, creating the massive wave. Ughh. Ive been watching this volcano every few hours for a week now because if a landslide happens we will have a 100 ft tsunami within 7-9 hours. I’m not relying on the news to tell us because they won’t. They’ll just tell the important people to leave so we peasants don’t create a stampede.
It's a "stromboli" type volcano, it has explosions occasionally and lava fountains as well as the flowing lava. This is #3 in a scale of 4 of dangerousness. The next are the kind that suddenly blow their tops off and launch a big pyroclastic flow, such as Vesuvius, Krakatoa.
Do volcanoes usually have a shockwave without anything else?

Car bomb shock wave - probably way less than 2000-pound but good comparison to this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NN05jCosAe8

The earthquake swarm started under Cumbre Vieja on 11 September 2021.
Looks like it, sounds.like a fighter flying by as well.
Seems like a horrific idea if they are.
