For some reason this is still an unpopular opinion. People are just addicted to punishment or something. How could anyone think that giving your money to your slaver, your abuser is a good thing? Sure there’s the fear of greater punishment if they refuse, but I think there are deeper immoral philosophical beliefs guiding it.
