Some time ago I asked on the Christianity.win why Christians worshipped Jesus when the 2nd commandment says not to worship idols and someone replied:

Jesus is the incarnation of God, in other words God came to earth in a human form to deliver a message of "Good News" and that good news is that although man was under the curse of sin, He came to deliver man from that curse as you said the savior of mankind. So to worship Jesus as or Lord and Savior is to worship God as the creator of all. So God, Jesus and The Holy Spirit of God are the same, known as the Trinity.

So to Christians, Jesus=God and that's why they worship him.

Yes, Jesus clearly said "I Am" which means I am God - this is The Trinity. For study on this, I would recommend Paster James White's book, "The Forgotten Trinity: Recovering the Heart of Christian Belief"
