I don't generally assume that small business owners have a lot of money. I work for a payroll company, so I understand what taxes/burdens/etc. business owners have to deal with.
My source is a retired career Marine who still works for them as a civilian. To be fair, he wasn't 100% sure, but he thought he heard that Scheller had a patent on the product and sold it to the USMC after building his successful business and selling his product at the PX. That's where he made his nut, not by just being a small business owner who had the opportunity to get his product on the shelf at the PX.
I appreciate Scheller speaking up against the brass. Definitely interested to learn the whole story because we don't have all the facts. it is possible that he didn't need the money from his retirement if he did sell his product/patent to the USMC so him saying that he would lose everything (his retirement/benefits for being career military) could have been disingenuous as he tried to get the rest of his message out.
Should have been more clear about my position/thoughts after posting the link.
Thank you for the explanation. You may have a point to consider if he had a patent sale that gave him at least some money and would explain why he did not worry so much about going forward and losing his pension. But, we still don't know for sure. If true however, It does put a whole new light on his motives. People need to do more background checks on causes they throw their money at. Thanks again.
