A hardware wallet with a unique 24 word seed phrase written across several pieces of paper and kept in separate lock boxes in separate locations is the way to go. Better yet... memorize that shit and burn the paper it was on. Never digitize the phrase in any way.
Also be wary of strange coins popping up in your wallet. Don't touch them or interact with the. Hackers can use these interactions to gain control of your wallet and drain your assets.
Wonder if authen like Okta Verify or Authn ES is also open to being compromised?
Against my better judgement I did the ID.me thing for a State requirement. Hell they have pictures of drivers license, birth certificate and stuff. I suspect that hackers are hammering them hard, and that it's just a matter of time before we here about an intrusion into their infrastructure.

How could the hackers know your seed ? If you install a wallet on a new device the seed phrase has to be used in order to restore previous wallet.
Buying from third parties is one way. Hackers can tamper with the wallet and place it back in the box, making it seemingly appear new.
