Of course it checks out. God’s word was restructured when Christ came. Christ even says sinners, can ask for forgiveness, if they have faith, and will be forgiven through him. The old Testament is just that, the old teachings, vs. the New Testament or new teachings. Both are to be understood, but Christ makes it clear that with his human understanding of us, we should strive to know both, but live closer to his teachings since they’re more humanly understandable.
Yes, and Christ gives a more human experience to God, therefore adjusting the teachings from what God directly wanted to a more human understanding of what was required by us to get into heaven.
Hebrews 13:8
Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever.
The Old Testament = the scriptures
John 5:39
Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me.
Everything Jesus taught is found in the Old Testament. The New Testament didn't replace a thing. The 10 commandments are still the law.
Matthew 5:18
For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.
Jesus did not come to abolish the Old Testament. He came to fulfill it!
I never said he abolished it. Please don’t try put words into my mouth. But what Jesus certainly did was update things from God’s version of Spanking his children with mass destruction of his direct power, realizing it wasn’t working with us humans, to Christ’s more human version of understanding how to deal with our flawed free will.
Not trying to put words in your mouth, fren. Don't think God "realized " anything since He is omniscient, though. He never learns anything or is surprised at anything.
