Considering all the polluted blood out there now, I have a question for anyone who knows.
I came across someone who said that blood transfusions are sort of a con. He said if you need blood for some reason, they can do it without putting someone else's blood into you. They just need to put liquid into you with electrolytes, and your body will make blood from that, and it will be only your own blood.
Anybody know about this?
Your body does regenerate blood but not so quickly that in an emergency situation that you'd be fine with a banana bag.
You can ‘donate’ your own blood to reserve for a scheduled surgery — but you have to do it at least a month or two before.
Fluid with electrolytes adds volume in an emergency but does not carry oxygen. If you lose a significant amount of blood you will be hypoxic without enough red blood cells, synthetic blood doesn’t cut it.
Hope they figure something out.
I'm O- negative, universal donor, unvaxed and CMV negative (basically the ideal blood donor). I've donated blood on time every time for decades, but have REFUSED to donate a drop since January 2020. So long as the words Covid 19 and Vaccination are mentioned, I won't donate. Why weaken my own immune system even for a moment while the medical industry is harming people?
When Covid is over and nobody mentions it anymore, then I'll donate blood again. Not before.
There is a synthetic blood product but I don't recommend it unless you are about to die. Get a transfusion from a relative (non vaxed) we did it all the time at the hospitals I worked at.
Synthetic blood substitutes exist. They are sterile and provide the function to carry oxygen and delivery it to the body's cells, but they don't work as well as blood. I don't know the % effectiveness versus real blood.
