I can't even watch the show anymore, and it was my favorite show of all time, all my adult life. I literally own the dvd collection, and I watched it as my bedtime ritual every single night for over 20 years. This one man has taken this away from me, so yeah, I want to punch him in the face.

I believe that's because Roddenberry was the only one on the team with that vision, and everyone else argued against it, so they wrote conflict into the show to save it from utter boredom.
