I'm VERY seriously thinking about driving to his house and putting a "A Hero Lives Here" sign in his front lawn.
May be better instead to put it in the grass between the street and sidewalk, so as not to commit an act of trespass
That's his property too.
Where I live it's public right of way. Like the sidewalk, it's part of the street, not the lot. The homeowner isn't permitted to fence it in or build on it, as he may with his own property.
