The chip shortage is real. Where I work is looking at 52 week lead times and there are zero parts available from distributors. Can't build products. Looking at changing design because of parts availability but it turns out none of the alternatives are available either. It looks like all the parts have been bought up by brokers.
I think in the case of our problems, the silicon was made but blocked at the packager for wire bonding etc. I believe the packager is in China proper.
My theory was that CCP ordered Chinese companies to fuck over Western companies and give priority to internal industries, in an effort to hamstring us industry and military resupply, and capture market share.

You'll be desoldering them from scrap boards soon :-(
Yep, buy a propane torch now before they are gone as well
I have never tried desoldering with a propane torch.
I have one so I can try it.
All chips depends on Taiwanese technology. Taiwan is the tipping point for WW3, but it might also just be the safety valve .. lets see.
It's real all right. We had to create 5 alternate designs to work around it, and we are not out of the woods yet. But they question is, why?

Theory 2: What if the chip shortage is because those companies are busy making nanotech crap to go in the vaxx?
