Pretty fun exchange at Safeway after shopping tonight! I walk out with a full cart and a guy walking toward the store is looking at me kinda funny, like I’m confusing him. He walks up and awkwardly says, "are we allowed to not wear masks in there now?" I go, "we never had to. It's been up to you this whole time. I don't wear one while I'm shopping and haven't for months now. I saw a few others without a mask to. Totally up to you I guess." He says, "awesome, thanks!" I watched him walk in and tuck his mask into his back pocket. As an aside, I saw more people while shopping without a mask today than I have this entire time. Still more masked than non but more non by a long shot! Anyhow, it was neat seeing someone take a red pill and immediately get excited and I wanted to share.

I haven't worn a mask in stores or restaurants for over 6 months.
I get depressed walking thru grocery stores these days. There are increasingly EMPTY shelves or low stock of normal goods.
Not that I like them, but I noticed a few weeks ago that (in Houston) frozen burritos were gone from supermarkets. They were just gone. Sometimes half the frozen French fries shelves are empty. Fresh veggie selection isn't what it was. Yesterday, I was looking for sweet potatoes, but there were only 4 small ones left unless I wanted organic ones.
There seems to be less and less selection each time. Before long, our stores will look like the old Soviet stores.
I went to Walgreens and they had replaced the clear glass doors of the refrigerators with screens that showed what 'should be' in the cooler. When you open the door the shelves inside were bare.
A perfect metaphor for our current system.
Technically the coolers were not empty since they were 'full' of pictures of food. Yum
