1 Shout for joy to the LORD, all the earth. 2 Worship the LORD with gladness; come before him with joyful songs. 3 Know that the LORD is God. It is he who made us, and we are his ; we are his people, the sheep of his pasture. 4 Enter his gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise; give thanks to him and praise his name. 5 For the LORD is good and his love endures forever; his faithfulness continues through all generations.
Study Notes:
100:3 God is our Creator; we did not create ourselves. Many people live as though they are the creator and center of their own little world. This mind-set leads to a greedy possessiveness and, if everything should be taken away, a loss of hope itself. But when we realize that God created us and gives us all we have, we will want to give to others as God gave to us (2 Corinthians 9:8). Then, if all is lost, we still have God and all he gives us.
100:4 God alone is worthy of being worshiped. What is your attitude toward worship? Do you willingly and joyfully come into God's presence, or are you just going through the motions, reluctantly going to church?
"Let's Go Brandon!" was on my mind as I talked with God this morning. There are so many lessons that can be taught in that situation. It exposes redefining words, euphemisms and gaslights. It exposes idol worship and mockery. I thought about Christ, and how he bore mockery. But he was not a tyrant, or someone who threatened our way of life, right? Jesus was/is without sin. Hmmm. So many lessons. But, there's a great big difference between "Let's Go Brandon" and the mockery of Christ. We can learn a lot from "Let's Go Brandon" if we stop and think about it, and go to God about it. There's a lot we can learn from how Jesus was mocked. I love the way God works in all situations and things.
Almighty God, Creator of All, only you indeed are worthy of worship. I praise your name for our brains and the freedom to use them to make our own choices. Let us glorify you in the choices we make. Thank you for this day and for your care over all those that are working to do your will here on earth. Bless us and guide us. Thank you most of all for your Son, my Savior and Teacher, Jesus Christ. It is in his name I pray. Amen.
