A great resource for someone new to the Bible is the Bible Project on YouTube. They give short narrated explanations accompanied by animations of each each book of the Bible. That was an interesting note about the first three words of Genesis. There is room for a debate there. I think it would lack humility to claim that it was interpreted incorrectly. Theres a good discussion happening on hermeneutics.stackexchange.com

Case for Christ goes over specifically the topic of the accuracy and dependability of the Bible, especially new testament.
