I’ve been to Mississippi once about five years ago. I’m from NC, a part of the south but not deep south. I was blown away at how nice people were to me. I’ve been to Southaven only for a concert. In my experiences most people at a country concert have the same beliefs and get along, until the drunk fights start.
I believe MS was one of the first states to stop mask mandates. I haven’t been since Covid and can’t say from experiences.
It could be like other areas in the south every one is guns, rednecks, country, believe in freedom & etc until you get to a big city. Our big cities in NC can get liberal!
🤣 When I’m joking around I call my husband a redneck. Or, joke about all the stuff people in the country use. (It doesn’t always get put up). I saw looks like a bunch of rednecks around here with 6 gas tanks for the grill, ginny, 4 wheeler, pick ups, country music etc. Of course I’m referring to the derogatory meaning that’s become a publicity thing with reality TV.
I’ll admit I knew the time period but didn’t know the full history. I do now! Thanks for inspiring me to learn.

People should learn where this supposedly derogatory term originates. You won't hurt my feeling by calling me a redneck.

Kudos to you for looking for yourself before asking for "sauce". Exactly my intent.
Yes. The cities tend to get a little stupid i agree. Get a piece of rural land and you'll be fine. The more remote the better.
