Currently watching a live stream of it and it's getting fairly violent now with more vents opening up, spewing out lava and gases. The audio sounds like straight demons coming out of it from time to time, crazy stuff.

There is no way the entire shelf would collapse. Even if it did it would displace about half a cubic mile. The tsunami would have to make it all the way across deep ocean (which is possible but not likely) with no interference, meaning that the wave can just spread out peacefully. I would be surprised if there is even a 1 ft difference in tides or sea levels anywhere in North America. Brazil should watch out, though, as should parts of Africa and Europe.
I don't have the link saved, but I will search for it again unless someone else posts it prior. There is a great scientific video showing you exactly what would happen if it goes, theoretically wise of course. And if the claim does become true, we will indeed get hit by it, and not 1ft worth of waves. I'm not claiming that a doomsday mega tsunami would happen, because it won't. But a good sized wave of 30-40ft would do quite a number on the east coast...and the swamp. The Canary Islands are not very far from us. It would take 6 or so hours for whatever wave is created to reach us.
And the chance is 1 in a 100 thousand years. And it last happened supposedly 3k years ago.
