Yeah, Trump has always appeared to me as either being not as knowledgeable as the most diehard devotees have made him out to be... whether that's because he isn't, or because he's just putting on a show to appear less intelligent, even though he's brilliant, I've yet to fully determine.

Jefferson was certainly an influence on Madison, mostly Jefferson's writings earlier on, then more personally during the early federal period leading up to the 1800 election, and moreso once Jefferson was president. Even Madison gets far too much credit for the "Father of the Constitution" title. George Mason, Gouverneur Morris (spoke most of all the delegates and "penned" the language), Roger Sherman and James Wilson were as, if not more influential on the final Constitution than Madison... Madison tends to get this title because he kept detailed notes, later published.
