Not every ship is a container ship. Each circle and color represent different types of vessels. If you click on one, it will give you the info about the boat.
All of the listed ships are container vessels which are at anchor, and I only ID'd about 30-40% or so.

Thank you, fren! I stopped right about the northern tip of Catalina . . . more to be done but I'm playing catch-up at work after a long cross-country trip.
It took awhile for me to compile info after I posted the link.
I was more responding to the people who didn't know what they were looking at, or were thinking that these were all container ships. Great work, anon. Very informative.
Much appreciated -- especially when I had posted it no explanation! I wanted to get it on the board, and it took longer than I had thought to tag a representative number of ships. These are generally between Huntington/Manhattan Beach and Catalina. There are at least as many further out, closer in and above the top of Catalina where I ran out of research time. Will try to get back to it later this week, if time permits.
