I'd been expecting that one for a while. The civilian government a couple months ago had been caught making a move to try and overthrow the military rule. Sudan is corrupt, but the civilian government is extremely corrupt. They hated the military putting limits on their behavior (although the military there has problems the politicians were far worse and wanted to make a bonanza off selling out their people). The civilian government wouldn't accept shared rule. There was almost a coup then, but I guess it finally got triggered.
