Our healthcare system is about to experience a tsunami. VERY interesting read from Harvard's Global Health Review (2011)

Notice how the cancer centers everywhere look like palaces? With the fountains out front, the expensive fancy artwork, I'd love to see the price tag for all that.
What you just said is what totally pisses me off every.single.time that I have to go to the hospital. How about spending that money on appropriate staffing? How about the CEO take a major friggin' paycut? I could give two shits whether I'm walking on a vinyl floor or some expensive imported tile floor. What I want is people there who actually give a shit about curing folks instead of collecting a paycheck. Sadly, those folks are few and far between and the only really good doctors that I know do not participate with insurance so they have no hospital privileges. The rockefeller family did one hell of a number to the practice of medicine. So sorry, I'll get off of my soapbox...
You couldn't be more right - put a handle on that soapbox and carry it around. This shit needs to be said. I actually had a doctor tell me he couldn't look at a disc of x-rays of my neck because they didn't have a computer with a disc drive in it. ????? They don't make enough money for a computer with a disc drive in it?? It wasn't on a floppy disk, for Pete's sake, it was a CD-Rom! Yeah there's such obvious mismanagement of money in the medical industry.
It's definitely a hot mess. That's for sure.
They get the deceased donation in memory of blood money...
