I know. I think it's all that hair-raising straight uphill, straight downhill, uphill a blind curve, downhill a blind curve driving they have to do. i drove across part of northern WVA once and kissed the ground when I got to flatter ground.
I noticed there were a lot of sand pits along steep hills where out of control trucks could pull in to stop careening downhill. I've only seen that one place in Virginia and that was very long, very steep hill. It was like climbing a wall, nearly.
Everyone here watches NASCAR like it's a fucking Religious Command from God himself....
I came from NM and it shocked me at how they drive....

Well, every truck Driver here thinks just because he can handle a Big Rig, he can DO NASCAR style driving....
And that is what the kids learn....
One would think that WV Truck Drivers would have the highest and strictest Standards for Driving, but it's just the exact opposite....

Yes, there are lots of runoffs here, due to how much coal gets hauled by big rigs....
And I think I know the hill you mentioned in Virginia, I drove down it once, and it's almost a sample of what there is here....
But, road builders are getting a lot better here.....
