This was between Patrick Co. and Mabry Mill, say south across the bottom of Va.. There's another one just about as steep north of Winchester running up into WVA that's probably just as steep and longer, but it doesn't have any sand pits.
I didn't know there was coal mining in the northern end, I know there's lots down near southwest VA, where there are also a lot of mines.
I don't remember. It was probably 40 years ago. It was so steep it's a wonder we didn't need suction cups on the tires. Can you tell I'm not a big fan of heights? LOL

I think we might be speaking about the same hill if it isthe one a "T"s off at the bottom on a Southbound road....
Well, yes, Va., does have coal Mines, but WV is nothing but.....

But not me, I became a Paratrooper... among other stuff....
They'd have to shoot me first. No way I could ever jump out of an airplane. I'm lucky if I can get on the second step of a stepladder.
