I was just watching the video from this post when I thought if we get out of this healthcare pickle (we will) how can we prevent this from ever happening again? this being companies making power grabs at the expense of people's health.
I was thinking that any vaccine has to be voluntary. No vaccine requirements period. Also, vaccines cannot be patented.
Am I thinking too small? Am I barking up the wrong tree?
This is what I wanted to read. Thank you for the feedback. These are things I didn't know were a thing. It seems the entire system is rigged and as you've stated has been for 5 decades. When the cover of this scam is blown you're going to have people under 50 years old completely lost because their entire lives have been built on lies; it's not going to be easy for them. Those are going to be tough times in their own right; caring for those lost souls.
You'll be surprised. Plenty of kids today know the system is rigged by pure intuition.
It wasn't always this way by any means. I'm 50ish, and even in my 20s health care was only just beginning to be managed care with networks; Osteopaths hadn't been acquired in a hostile acquisition by the AMA and were growing as a separate licensed option; most MDs operated in a small practice; nobody needed a referral to see a specialist; and medical bills were mostly accurate representations of cost rather than the blatant falsehoods they represent today. Regional differences of course, but it was the slow drawing in of a net from many sides that brought us to this point. Congress only exempted the match from antitrust legislation because independently-minded med school graduates in the late 90s were about to win their lawsuit.
It would actually be easy for a large state to break the system today by competing against the ACGME and establishing their own medical schools and license under a state charter that would guarantee a license to practice in their state. It would drastically reduce costs to become a doctor there, increase competition and improve care with a market-based approach. Few states have the guts to do it, and to withstand the lawsuits and corrupt subterfuge from the AMA lobby. But at this point I think full destruction of the system (eliminating the FDA and relevant federal enforcers) is more likely, with a fresh rebuild.
