Screw it. For this, give them the clicks, so you have a good starting point for your digs.

You can still retrieve the original link from the top of the archived portal.

If you're going to visit a website like Forbes, it's better to follow the link from the archive site rather than here as it confounds the siteowners' traffic analysis.

I've worked in web dev, and I can tell you that these people are obsessed with measuring their traffic.
