Would not be surprising; our President has a history of helping others in need.
I knew almost nothing about Trump when he began his 2016 campaign, and as much as anything, watching him (and Melania) with other people brought me over to his side. He's genuine -- angry when appropriate, disdainful when appropriate, warm and compassionate with other genuine people including those of low station and unfortunate circumstance. Watching most politicians and other powerful people in similar circumstances gives gives me a very different impression.
DJT helped a homeless black lady live rent free in a Trump tower condominium for decades. Saw it on the news in the 90's when they interviewed her. He never brings it up, and no one else for sure brings it up.

Trump has always been sober. Rarely discussed, but his teetotal life has been a major reason people reach out to him.
