I have a theory - besides the chip shortage - that new gas-powered cars aren't hitting the car lots because they want to get rid of gas powered cars and have us all go to electric! I think they are going to hold back as long as they can - then flood the market with electric cars and "force" people to buy them as that is all that is available! Have you noticed that almost all car commercials, heck, even TRUCK commercials, are for ELECTRIC powered vehicles? Thoughts??

Electric cars are coal-powered, nuke-powered, and diesel-powered.
That electricity is generated somewhere. If connected to the grid, the electricity comes from coal plants or nuke plants.
If not connected, the charging stations are powered by diesel generators.

EXACTLY!!! I know that and you know that - but the rest of the people are just stupid!!!! I think they will wake up when they try to drive somewhere on vacation and they can't because they can't charge the car fast enough. My daughter figured that out pretty quickly - she and her BF rented a Tesla to drive from Dallas to Peoria and a usual 12 to 14 hour drive took them TWO FULL DAYS due to #1 - TRYING to find charging stations; and #2 - the time it took to charge. She said she will never do that again!
Not to mention, if the entire populous were driving electric vehicles, what's to stop them from shutting off the power grid?
I can see it now... "Sorry, you cannot charge your vehicle are are forced to stay put because our grid was cyber-attacked."

Electric cars may or may not be the answer due to electric consumption dependent on the electrical grid. We do not have enough electrical output to sustain the growth model for electric cars so say the reports I have read.
Oh... I know that and you know that - but the regular sheeple American - I think if an electric car is all they have to choose from - they WILL buy it thinking they are saving the earth or some other green thing!
Automatic lockdown of all people, especially those in non-urban locations? Just shut off the power. You no longer need to change any laws or the Constitution to tell people they cannot go anywhere. You could use a gasoline generator to charge your car, but you still cannot travel more than your car's range.
And I expect once a sufficient percentage of people have electric cars they will make gas stations go away through environmental rules. So you won't have any fuel for your generator.

I've thought the same thing. If Tesla's technology works, then you don't need gasoline-powered cars nor battery-powered cars. Perhaps Trump set the wheels in motion, pardon the pun, to have Tesla-tech cars ready and available for the Great Awakening.
Bob Lazar the Area 51 dude made a hydrogen powered corvette. Cool YouTube vid. He started creating a company to make them. He gave up because he could not source material needed to store the hydrogen in an efficient manner. Seems chyna has it all.
