Disability from Guillain-Barre syndrome depends on whether it's affecting primarily the nerve insulation (demyelinating) or the nerves themselves - much longer for the latter with the possibility of poor / incomplete recovery. Also depends on how extensive the damage was and how quickly this is diagnosed and treated. Condition can be life threatening.

Usually there will be some amount of neurologic deficits causing disability for a few months. Due to the great variation in severity however this disability may extend for many months to years - sometimes incomplete recovery.

It would be EXTREMELY unlikely he would have GBS and recover under the radar. Often times, people need ventilator assistance. If true, he is going through the 'worsening' period now, they probably tried to treat it, but the GBS may be proving to be a serious case.... that's why it is interesting for this rumor to be circulating at this time. Months & months of illness/recovery

It's bad, depending on how severe. Two people I know with it, are chair bound and in chronic pain.

Months. Months of recovery common. They'd need a replacement governor. It's that bad. Palsy can be precursor to GBS. We will see soon. They can't hide that.
