It was an incredibly risky and silly thing to do to take the stand when he had the case in the bag on a silver platter - now he only has to use one wrong word and the prosecution and go for the jugular and snatch victory form the jaws of defeat.

BUT I get it. After a year he probably was desperate to tell his side of the story. And damn watching him break down like that was shocking. The PTSD must be so bad. Poor kid. Just wanna give him a hug.
