Not wrong. (But, I do agree that, for some, there is comfort in collectivism.)
Blaming pastors isn't the fix.
People individually following Christ"s commands is. However:
That is what leads to the mess that we have.
A lot of pastors have blame to bear. But that is another discussion topic.
Following Christ's "commands" is as easy as reading them and applying how they speak to you. There are a few things that are non-negotiable so to speak, but in the grand scheme a lot of what we think we know is based on past interpretation and sadly a lot of that interpretation was perverted.
However, Christ's core teachings are mostly solid despite years of retranslations and copy pastes and without serious perversions can be picked up and lived by anyone.
We are not always going to agree and that's okay. Agreement and being right aren't as important as unity and respect and most importantly, love trumps all.
