GitHub is a place for hosting source code, not necessarily for help with coding. Though the issues feature is kind of used that way sometimes. StackOverflow is really the place I always end up when looking for a solution to whatever I'm working on. There's also no shortage of sites to learn how to code. Many of them free, as well.

Just host your own repositories, with git. That’s what I’m doing.

I think OP believes that GitHub is like a code camp style site.
I'd like to learn to program first, but every time I dig into it my brain starts to melt.
I’ve come to really enjoy c#. It’s really just a matter of learning how to ask questions a certain way…
