I have never been asked this. American History I would assume would be All of its history before and including the creation of the United States of America. Or at least thats my current opinion.
I like to say US history as I feel its more accurate to my studies since I focus on 1817 and later.
"the United States of America (Corp.) and "THE UNITED STATES (INC.) are private, for-profit foreign corporations that occupy 11 square miles of territory between Maryland and Virginia, as well some offshore islands (Virgin, Guam, etc.). The Crown Corporation owns the former, the Vatican the latter.
That's the difference. Their "history" is "U.S. History", as they were indeed the "winners" of the "Civil War", which was nothing more than a privateer mercenary war.
You should find striking differences between history books written from 1790s - 1860, and then again, from 1870-1930. Everything written after 1930 is nearly pure propaganda. This nation has a reset every 70 years. 1789 - 1859 (Civil War) was the first stretch. 1859-1929 (depression) the next, and then 1929-1999, where we were sold off during our third false bankruptcy to the IMF/UN who are now the primary creditors of the land/people in this geographical region we call "The United States of America".
"American History" is effectively anything written before Abe Lincoln which was the end of free men/women living as sovereign "land owners" before the British BAR regained their foothold and took back what they believed was rightfully theres.
That's the difference. If you've been able to get your hands on these older books, unrevised first editions, you'll be quite surprised by many things you read.
I would say after Woodrow Wilson's history books became that standard (1930s) history books became inaccurate. Maybe we have two different reasons but same outcome.
Indeed, same outcome. My dates are obviously general. Suffice it to say, the closer the book was written to the events themselves, the more accurate.
I rank WW the 2nd worst president in "U.S." history, close on the heals of FDR. I believe he was the first real "Manchurian candidate" mind-controlled leader in this country, of course handled by the illustrious Colonel Edward Mandell House.
I have heard and have seen some of what you say, Unfortunately my readings are pretty confined to LOC and .gov laws, etc. So a lot of what I read would be within the context of "US history" these are the confines I am working in. The purpose is to create a multi-layered history site to dispell many modern myths, (1965 part switch, civil war reasons, etc.) using only LOC and Gov sources. Users will be able to filter down the history to particular lenses. Mayeb later I can explore the sideof history you speak of a little more
