Let's face it, Austrian dukes must have had delusions of grandeur to restyle themselves as archdukes. Imagine if Trump had styled himself Archpresident.
From what I remember, deep state went on a hunt to extinguish all those royal bloodlines - France, Austria, Hungary, Russia - Many of the wars until lat 1890s was because of this. There is a lot of literature in 1890s where people are hopeful that the time of war has passed and the people of the world can finally look forward to peace.
I only wish that I could figure out how to battle these people effectively.
We are getting a masterclass in this. So far the stage has been set and the enemies have been named and exposed. Watch how they will all fall. This is the only way.
OK, I am not a history buff but at least wikipedia agrees that archduke was a title manufactured by a duke to make them look better.
The title was not used systematically until the 14th century, when the title "Archduke of Austria" was invented in the forged Privilegium Maius (1358–1359) by Duke Rudolf IV of Austria, called Rudolf the Founder (German: Rudolf der Gründer).

So you maintain that the duke changed his title to archduke but that was not to make him look better. We may have to agree to differ on that point.
