Seven years ago my kids' school sent a note home telling us that they were going to be teaching our elementary school students about sex.
We sent a note back saying "No thanks, that's our job, just teach them reading, writing, math and critical thinking skills."
They sent a note back saying "No, we'll teach them whatever we want."
I walked into the school the next day and said "I'm withdrawing all three of my kids from school to home school them."
Boy were they pissed. The schools in that state gets paid for how many kids are in attendance for a full day. It's why they hate you pulling your kid out for an appointment and treat you like a criminal to get one of their cavities filled. Losing three kids to homeschooling at the beginning of the year is a big fat deal for them.

That’s why we finally pulled my son from school to finish at home doing independent study in his senior year. He had switched to alternative school in freshman year due to getting bullied and falling through the learning cracks from dyslexia. No one was helping him even on extra programs for help. In the first five weeks doing independent, he finished an entire year of history and math and completed all classes six months early. The teachers were mad at us for pulling him but he did well.
