You are a psychologist I think. You would likely realise that ASD is a continuum and also an umbrella for a number of different developmental disorders with slightly different causes and impairment profiles, depending on cause.
Causes might be genetic, immunological, metabolic or injury related.
ASD is more like a set of volume controls on a graphic equaliser than a continuum. The volume controls are set either way higher or way lower than default. Each control represents a neurological aspect such different types of afferent sensitivity (light, sound, taste, touch etc), systemising, social understanding, ability to generalise, flexibility, verbal skills, fine and coarse motor skills.
We're all different.
But, yes, I can spot them all a mile off! Sometimes just the face shape or expression will be enough. Body language too.
I haven't had very many seizures luckily. I've hit my head and done my back and been kidnapped by ambulances a few times. I am very photosensitive.
I think there is a higher incidence of epilepsy with ASD and like a lot of us here, I'm on the spectrum.
