I think many are just not used to thinking. They've been spoon fed all their lives and told they were "special" because of what good sheep they were. Waking up would mean admitting they were wrong. They can't do that.
The boot heel will have to be on their neck before they will start to see (and even them some won't). Delusions protect them from their fears and anxieties.

Was talking a neighbour's daughter and who was upset that her very elderly father had just been given a second jab + flu shot, poor old chap had no say in it.
