Each person must decide for themselves. I don't do the "santa thing", and I agree we don't teach the truth of Christmas. What is the truth?
Do we not say that life begins at conception? Jesus was conceived around December 25. He was born during the feast of Tabernacles. I can go into the proofs if asked.
The trees that the pagans worshipped were phallic shaped and decorated as fertility objects. They have no life in them.
Our Father compares Himself to a "fir tree".
" Hos 14:8 Ephraim shall say, What have I to do any more with idols? I have heard him, and observed him: I am like a green fir tree. From me is thy fruit found. "
In other words, in return for Ephraim giving up his idols and turning back to the Lord, God becomes the green fir tree that provides both shade and protection to His People Israel. In other words, God is saying to His People Israel “I’m the only ‘tree’ you’ll ever need. I’m the eternal tree of life.”
Didn't we read of that "tree of life" in the Garden of Eden and later in Revelations?
Do you worship the tree you put up or do you do it in remembrance of Him who gives life?
Christ said of Himself: He, indeed, is that “green tree” referred to in Hosea 14:8.
Luk 23:31 For if they do these things in a green tree, what shall be done in the dry?
In other words, “If they’ll crucify the author of eternal life – the very tree of life which gives life to all men — then be careful of what they’re going to do to you, later.”
The life giving symbol of our Father has been stolen by the pagans and given a different meaning.
Jer 10:1 Hear ye the word which the LORD speaketh unto you, O house of Israel:
Jer 10:2 Thus saith the LORD, Learn not the way of the heathen, and be not dismayed at the signs of heaven; for the heathen are dismayed at them.
Jer 10:3 For the customs of the people are vain: for one cutteth a tree out of the forest, the work of the hands of the workman, with the axe.
Jer 10:4 They deck it with silver and with gold; they fasten it with nails and with hammers, that it move not.
Jer 10:5 They are upright as the palm tree, but speak not: they must needs be borne, because they cannot go. Be not afraid of them; for they cannot do evil, neither also is it in them to do good.
The pagan trees/symbols mean nothing and can do nothing. They are meaningless fertility symbols-inanimate objects worshipped by the ignorant and the worshippers of satan. The objects in themselves cannot do good or bad-they are lifeless.
I could go on but I am sure you get my meaning.
Jesus Christ is the tree of life. In Him we have our life and our being. His conception and birth are two of the greatest times of rejoicing for us. Do not rob yourselves of this joy
With all the digging and research for Q I am very surprised to learn that some Christians cannot read with understanding. The joy is the conception of Christ..not Santa, not pagan rites, not all the lies of satan which covers the truth.
It matters. As Christians we learn that life begins at conception. Here we have the promise o$ a savior. Did God forbid this celebration? When Jesus was born the angels celebrated. The shepherds celebrated, the magi celebrated.. Shouldnt we be glad? Our Father commanded us to celebrate certain feast days. He never said we couldn't celebrate any other days like weddings, birthdays, baby showers etc.
Whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God” (1 Corinthians 10:31).
28And the angel came in unto her, and said, Hail, thou that art highly favoured, the Lord is with thee: blessed art thou among women. 29And when she saw him, she was troubled at his saying, and cast in her mind what manner of salutation this should be. 30And the angel said unto her, Fear not, Mary: for thou hast found favour with God. 31And, behold, thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and bring forth a son, and shalt call his name JESUS. 32He shall be great, and shall be called the Son of the Highest: and the Lord God shall give unto him the throne of his father David: 33And he shall reign over the house of Jacob for ever; and of his kingdom there shall be no end. 34Then said Mary unto the angel, How shall this be, seeing I know not a man? 35And the angel answered and said unto her, The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee, and the power of the Highest shall overshadow thee: therefore also that holy thing which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God. 36
I agree that God gave us Feasts to keep as they were very important to our understanding of scripture. I agree that Easter is Ishtar.
But as I said, each must decide for themselves. I would NEVER tell someone how they should celebrate it. My point was to dispel myths regarding pagans, trees, and the time of conception. I do know the angels celebrated His birth.
However, do not lose sight of the fact on December 25th, Jesus came to dwell with mankind in the flesh. He was in Mary’s womb on that day.
Yet, the actual birth of Jesus took place on September 29th. Dr. Bullinger did an outstanding job of documenting the true birth date of our Lord and Savior in “the course of Abia”.
If you firmly believe that celebrating Christmas or putting up a tree is heathenistic then please do not do it.
I think it is important to teach our families that Christmas is the time of conception of Christ. We should not be afraid of pagan symbols and we should know that God compares himself to a fir tree.
Let's not forget That Christmas is a time to rejoice. But not as the world, sees it but as Christians see it.
It's not a matter of opinion or choosing for one's self. I said that those who know the Lord won't because they know that He hates it. It has nothing to do with Christ whatsoever, no matter how you slap His name on it.
I know that you wouldn't tell someone not to celebrate it. People will look for any excuse to hold on to the gods in their lives and that's really what you're doing. You should know the Lord's position on that.
Okay. You obviously didn't understand what I said or the scriptures I gave or the point I made.
So we will leave it at that. If you don't care when Jesus was born or conceived I dont know what to say to you. Because Satan corrupts the times and seasons, the rainbow or anything else God has given us, does not mean it doesn't have value. You have been robbed of the times and seasons.
Quit convoluting how the world celebrates from what I said.

Great response!
Ty. It's a fine line between "preachy" and giving out info....LOL. I don't walk it well sometimes.
Do not rob yourselves of this joy? really? ok then

Did God forbid this celebration? YES He did and does
Interesting that the early church did not celebrate Christ's birth.
Anyone who knows the Lord won't celebrate Christmas or Ishtar. There are only three God-ordained observances:
Passover, Feast of Tabernacles and Pentecost. Anything else is anathema.
You can put lipstick on a pig but it's still a pig.
Passover and easter are very different subjects from Christmas. Passover was commanded to celebrate..and not as a fertility rite.
Christmas is not a feast day nor is it a day of santa..it is conception day. I am very grateful for that day

His wrath is on those who take His name in vain.
